Red Wing Parrot - Aprosmictus erythropterus

Heading further south into the woodlands and approaching the savannah, I am starting to see more birds in the treetops and not on the ground. One of these birds includes the Red Winged Parrot.

Both sexes they have distinctive red wings; however, the male has much more colouration, and also a black fathered back that also includes under the wings. Seen here eating the flower buds of an Australian Magnolia, the birds were able to both see and hear me photograph them from 50m away. The males quickly feeling and leaving their female behind.

Today's photos turned out quite well I think.
