Portrait of a Princess Parrot - Polytelis alexandrae

Sitting in the mottled lighting of the leafy wattle trees in the Australian outback I found this Princess Parrot sitting happily, and blissfully unaware.

The red beak is very peculiar, with an eye that is elliptical and unusual for a parrot. With colours in blue, red, and green this is a bird sought after for its exotic nature. Making for a wonderful photographic subject in the right lighting. Although not a perfect photograph due to minor irregularities, this parrot has the potential to become a favourite photographic subject.

I will try to find a way to lure the bird into full sunlight, in order to see the full colours this bird has to offer. As subtle tones of soft blues, light greens and delicate pinks are what make this bird a favourite. But conversely very difficult to photograph thus far.
