Today we have a really good picture of a kite playing in the updraft of the McDonald ranges. The cooler weather brought out some bright blue clouds, and the red backdrop of the mountain really made the hawk stand out. I think this one was trying to come in and land on the stick below, but he must have seen me.
It has taken quite a while to get to know these birds well. The first photographs that I could take were from very far away. It would have been easier to photograph the moon. However, the effort has paid off.
I hope to share many images of the large birds in the region, as techniques to photograph them improve.
