Today's post is about a very widespread bird in Australia.
The Red-capped Robin is a small insect-eating bird that often likes to stick close to the ground. Petrocia is a latten reference to sitting on rocks, which is definitely relevant to the second image.
This little on number 30, is a male with its white cappings on its wings. The females have been known not to have this marking, but still, have the fluro-red colourings.
As this bird is quite common, we know a fair bit about him. There are also numerous scientific articles about him. However, for me, he was an interesting photographic subject to work with.
