Unknown; Native Water Foul

After finding a waterhole I was greeted by a waterbird and it took quite a bit of effort to find out what it was. I am still a bit undecided as to whether it is a duck or a waterfowl. If I had to place a bet it would be a waterfowl. However, I still don't have a name for it just yet.

Never the less I have found water and I am awaiting some birds to show up so I can take pictures of them.

Edit; on the 9th of April we identified the bird as; a Australasian Grebe - Tachybaptus Novaehollandiae.
