Weedy Sea Dragon - Phyllopteryx taeniolatus
sirterrywatts

Weedy Sea Dragons are one of the unusual things you can find in Australian Waters.

Although normally found in Southern Waters around Australia, conservation efforts are now underway. Recently their disappearance from the temperate reefs around Australia has scientist concerned. Today I was invited to photograph these dragons for the aquaculture centre. Despite their surroundings being completely artificial, they have had success in breeding the dragons.

These are one of the most unusual things I have photographed in my time. However, these photographs will be of great importance in the near future as our seas change and conservation efforts come forward, to help mitigate the effects of our changing climate. There is a lot of work outlining damage to the great barrier reef, but the truth is that creatures everywhere are under pressure as their climates change.

Today's photograph required work to remove imperfections such as the circular swirls plaguing my underwater housings. However, I have captured the form and elaborate details of the creature. Which will now make its way into books and flyers about the marine centre.

Neighbourly disputes in the fish world
sirterrywatts

Recently I came across some footage that was too good not to share.

Territorial disputes are not limited to the land, and the human world.

As two bethnic neighbours set out to settle a dispute.
