Big Crocadile

Today's photograph is of an 8m to 9m Crocodile I photographed in the Kadadu waterways. This fellow was much larger than the boat I was in, and was on the move to find a new pace to wait and hunt.

Large crocodiles like this one are referred to as iconic crocodiles. As they are protected under Australian Conservation Law as an iconic feature of the landscape, but they also hold great significance and respect with the indigenous owners of the land.

This reptile is definitely in the category of river monsters though. This was the first time I was able to capture one with the camera mostly above the waterline. Detailing the sheer size and nature of such a large reptile.
